NEW DEAL FOR WATSON
The Texans and Deshaun Watson have been working on an extension for quite some time and now it is officially done. Watson agreed to a 4-year extension that will be added to the two years remaining on his contract. The Texans wanted to get deals done with Watson and ILB Zach Cunningham before the start of the season, and now both deals are final before the season starts for the Texans on Thursday night against the Kansas City Chiefs.
The #Texans and @DeshaunWatson reached an agreement on a 4-year extension that averages $39 million a year with a $27 million signing bonus. This is in addition to the 2 years he has left on his original contract. So he's tied to the team for 6 years.

Was it the right call, or a move made out of desperation due to the early-season outfield situation? We dive into the context of the Kyle Tucker trade, the uncertainty surrounding the outfield to start the year, and whether Cam Smith was truly ready — or if the Astros may have rushed a top prospect before he was fully developed.
