According to multiple reports, the Houston Texans are hiring 49ers passing game coordinator Bobby Slowik to be the team's offensive coordinator.
The #Texans are hiring Bobby Slowik as their offensive coordinator, per sources.
Slowik and DeMeco Ryans spent the past six seasons together in San Francisco, both starting their NFL coaching careers as defensive quality controls. Now, Ryans brings Slowik along as OC. pic.twitter.com/8r3MfmtlyT

Texans HC DeMeco Ryans is very familiar with Slowik, as they have worked together for six seasons in San Francisco. The Texans interviewed former Cardinals HC Kliff Kingsbury for the OC position on Friday, but ultimately decided to go with Slowik. Former Texans OC Pep Hamilton has been let go.
A player many Aggie fans will be familiar with, Jerrod Johnson, has been selected to be the team's next quarterbacks coach, per sources.
The #Texans are hiring Jerrod Johnson as QBs coach, sources say. The Houston native, an #Eagles undrafted free agent as a player, is on the rise as a coach and takes a step up after serving as the #Vikings’ assistant QBs coach this past season.

The 34-year-old Houston native was the Minnesota Vikings assistant quarterbacks coach last season.
The Texans are also reportedly trying to hire Klint Kubiak to be the team's run game coordinator, though it is not a done deal, per John McClain.
I feel I should reiterate the tweet I sent Sunday: The Texans have NOT hired Klint Kubiak. They're trying, but he has options. It's not a done deal. I jumped the gun saying they were "hiring him." And I apologize!

Kubiak was the Broncos passing game coordinator and quarterbacks coach last season. Before that, he was the Vikings quarterbacks coach in 2019 and 2020. He was then promoted to Vikings OC in 2021.
On defense, the team announced former Cardinals D-line coach Matt Burke will be the new DC, and Frank Ross will stay on the staff and continue coaching special teams.
Oswald Peraza hit a two-run single in the ninth inning to help the Los Angeles Angels snap a three-game losing skid by beating the Houston Astros 4-1 on Saturday night.
Peraza entered the game as a defensive replacement in the seventh inning and hit a bases-loaded fly ball to deep right field that eluded the outstretched glove of Cam Smith. It was the fourth straight hit off Astros closer Bryan Abreu (3-4), who had not allowed a run in his previous 12 appearances.
The Angels third run of the ninth inning scored when Mike Trout walked with the bases loaded.
Kyle Hendricks allowed one run while scattering seven hits over six innings. He held the Astros to 1 for 8 with runners in scoring position, the one hit coming on Jesús Sánchez’s third-inning infield single that scored Jeremy Peña.
Reid Detmers worked around a leadoff walk to keep the Astros scoreless in the seventh, and José Fermin (3-2) retired the side in order in the eighth before Kenley Jansen worked a scoreless ninth to earn his 24th save.
Houston’s Spencer Arrighetti struck out a season-high eight batters over 6 1/3 innings. The only hit he allowed was Zach Neto’s third-inning solo home run.
Yordan Alvarez had two hits for the Astros, who remained three games ahead of Seattle for first place in the AL West.
Peraza’s two-run single to deep right field that broke a 1-1 tie in the ninth.
Opponents were 5 for 44 against Abreu in August before he allowed four straight hits in the ninth.
Astros RHP Hunter Brown (10-6, 2.37 ERA) faces RHP José Soriano (9-9, 3.85) when the series continues Sunday.
