Texans place non-exclusive franchise tag on Jadeveon Clowney

CLOWNEY CONTRACT
Texans GM Brian Gaine announced that the Texans have placed the non-exclusive franchise tag on Jadeveon Clowney, but will continue to work with Clowney and his agent on a long-term deal. Clowney has been able to stay relatively healthy the last few years and many believe he will be looking for a contract similar to Aaron Donald's. Donald signed a deal for $135 million, including $87 million guaranteed in August. The non-exclusive tag means the Texans will have an opportunity to match any offer, or get 2 first round picks in return as compensation.

The latest update from Astros GM Dana Brown on the club's flagship station did not ease anyone's concerns this week. Brown said he was optimistic that Kyle Tucker would be back before September. September?
