Houston Texans set to bring back key member of secondary

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Texans and cornerback Desmond King have agreed on a new contract. King (age 27) will return to the Texans on a 2-year deal for $7 million, with 3.5 million guaranteed.

King played in 16 games for Houston in 2022, recording 3 interceptions, 1 forced fumble, and 6 passes defended. King was a 5th round draft pick for the Chargers in 2017.

Desmond also played on special teams for Houston, returning 17 punts for 154 yards.

While the final push to win the division was stressful for the Astros and their fans, in the end, the team took care of business and came home with another division title.

It's no secret that Jose Abreu, Martin Maldonado, and Dusty Baker have taken a lot of heat over the course of the season for poor play, and questionable decision-making in Dusty's case.

It had to feel good for those guys to come through for the club when it was needed most.
