Ok, so that was a topsy-turvy weekend in Class 5A

Let’s start with No. 2 Shadow Creek, who has exploded onto the scene in its first “varsity” season. The Sharks took down Friendswood to remain undefeated in one of the toughest districts in the state.

No. 5 Angleton pushed around Foster, who dropped from the Top 10 ranks.

How about No. 6 New Caney, who has been a bit of a sleeper in 2018? The Eagles continue to climb the charts.

Say hello to Barbers Hill and Santa Fe. The Indians took down Crosby. Yes, Crosby. And Barbers Hill beat Vidor in a tough conference matchup.

No. 3 Magnolia West will have a huge game against Lufkin this weekend to see if they can hold onto their Top 5 ranking.

Let's boil down the Class 6A football reclassification as it relates to the Greater Houston area.

District 21-6A becomes the new power conference with North Shore (back-to-back Class 6A DI state champs), Atascocita (2019 Region III finalist) and West Brook (2018 Class 6A DII state runner up).

The big winners were Deer Park and Channelview, who move to District 22-6A. While it will be tough to schedule for District 13-6A with six teams, it means that only two teams don't make the postseason.

Another interesting note is now Houston represents half of Region II (4 of 8 districts) and all of Region III.

REGION II

District 13-6A -- Are Conroe schools plus Willis.

District 14-6A -- Are the Spring and Aldine schools again. No change there.

District 15-6A -- Are the Klein and Tomball schools. Tomball moves up to Class 6A.

District 16-6A -- An all-Cy Fair district. Cy Falls moves over to replace Tomball Memorial.
